Introduction
This guide will walk you through setting up the VL300 device, upgrading the firmware, activating Stand-Alone mode, and integrating it with POS Integration.
Step-by-Step Guide to Setting Up the VL300
Step 1: Connect devices and initiate application download.
- Connect the VL300 PINPAD to a VL100 or VL100 pro terminal via USB cable.
- On the VL100 terminal, start the application download using version 3.0.26.
Step 2: Automatic application push to VL300.
- During the download process, the VL100/VL100 pro automatically pushes the application update to the connected VL300 PINPAD.
Step 3: Confirm Ethernet connectivity.
- After installation, ensure the VL300 has an active Ethernet connection before switching to Stand-Alone Mode.
- This connection is required for communication with the Valor Connect platform.
Step 4: Switch to Stand-Alone Mode.
- From the VL300 idle screen, press the red CANCEL button.
- The device switches to Stand-Alone Mode.
Step 5: Add the VL300 to your merchant account.
- Sign in to the merchant portal and add the VL300 as a device to the merchant account.
- A unique EPI will be generated upon successful addition.
Step 6: Enable Valor Connect and retrieve the Channel ID.

Step 7: Enter EPI ID on the VL300.
- The VL300 displays the Enter EPI ID screen.
- Enter the generated EPI and press the green OKAY button.
- The device will begin the download and transition into Valor Connect listening mode.
Step 8: Generate API Keys.

Step 9: Start Using the API.
- You are now ready to use Valor’s Publish API to send transactional data to the VL300.

Step 10: Transition from Stand-Alone to Paired Mode
- After entering Stand-Alone Mode and completing a parameter download, navigate to:
Favorites > PINPAD Type, and select the appropriate PIN pad type.
OR
- From the Enter EPI screen, press the red Cancel button.
- When prompted by the Comm Config Confirmation, press the green Okay button.
- Then navigate to: PINPAD Type, and select the correct PINPAD type to enable communication with the VL100 or VL100 Pro.
